SI (Compressive Strength ASTM C140-15). The is the amount of pressure per square inch that may be applied before the stone breaks
Absorption Rate (ASTM C140-15). A low absorption rate is crucial to prevent stone holding onto water, especially in colder climates where high water content can result in the stone cracking
Coefficient of Friction Rate (ASTM C140-15). This is the slip resistance rating o the stone to ensure if is safe for use outside
Furthermore, all products from Natural Paving are CE marked to ensure they meet with strict EU regulations that were introduced in 2013. European standards EN1341 (flagstones), EN1342 (pavers) and EN1343 (kerbs) specify the requirements and test methods for each of these. The CE testing covers areas similar to ASTM including water absorbency, flexural strength and frost resistance.
All natural stone products have been tested to show the various properties of each stone and how it is likely to react under different circumstances.

What different styles of coping are there?
Our coping stones may be used for a variety of different purposes such as:
- Swimming pool edges
- On the top of a wall
- As a top for an existing set of steps
- Used vertically as an edge to a lawn or border
- As a perimeter to a raised paved area or deck
To meet these requirements, we offer a number of different finishes across our range, all with their own distinctive style.
Bullnose Edge
This finish has a rounded long edge on one side of the paving. All other edges are sawn straight. This ideally suits a pool edge or coping for existing steps.
Chiselled Edge
This coping has a handcut, irregular finished long edge along one side. All other sides are sawn straight. This is ideally suited to wall coping where one side of the wall is visible, or as an attractive finish around a raised paved or deck area.
Eased Edge
This style of coping has a sawn, straight finish that is lightly chamferred / bevelled along one long edge on one side. All other sides are sawn straight without chamferring. This is suited to various applications including pool edging, edge finishing and wall tops.
Double Chisel Edge
This coping has a handcut, irregular finished long edge along both long edges on both sides. The two short sides are sawn straight without chamferring. This is suited to applications such as wall tops where the wall is visible from both sides.
