Natural Stone Characteristics:

All natural stone products are unique and will vary in color and texture, often showing distinctive markings, minor imperfections and may include mineral deposits such as iron and quartzite. Sizes are nominal and may vary. The jointing allowance is often included in the individual slab sizes and contribute to the overall pack coverage. The product images shown are as accurate as photographic processes allow and may appear differently in accordance with lighting conditions and screen calibration in addition to the natural variation occurring between batches. Limestone Description:

Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock formed mainly from calcium carbonate. This is often as a result of the accumulation of shell, coral and algal matter formed in the clear, warm shallow marine waters. Natural limestone paving has a textured feel and a gently undulating, lightly rippled surface. It usually has hand-fettled / chiselled edges or may also be sawn straight and tumbled. Its colors are far more consistent across each slab than sandstone.

- Cleft Limestone This type of limestone has an uneven, cleft, gently riven surface texture with occasional ridges and the edges of the slabs are usually hand-chiselled and tapered with the larger face of the slab to be laid uppermost. This limestone may show slight variation on the thickness, usually ranging between quarter inch either way. 

- Tumbled Limestone This type of limestone has an uneven, cleft, gently riven surface texture that has then been artificially aged to make the appearance softer and more aged. This process smoothes the surface to provide a more gentle cleft texture and slightly rounds the edges of the stone to give the appearance of a stone that is much older than it actually is making it suitable for period homes where a new stone would look out of place. This limestone may show slight variation on the thickness, usually ranging between quarter inch either way. 

Limestone Colors:

Natural limestone paving is offered in three key color groups:

Steel Blue which is a mid cool blue-gray colour with occasional light gray and copper tones, Sahara, which is predominantly buttermilk buff tones with light grey and occasional copper tones and Charcoal, which is a dark gray to black color that gradually lightens in sunlight to become a warm mixed grey color.
